Tobia Al Saghaira, “Small Tobia,” lies in the calm inner‑reef system of Soma Bay and is often described as a small site with a big experience. Instead of one isolated pinnacle, it is formed by several interconnected chains of ergs that create an inverted Y‑shaped pattern on the seabed, with narrow sandy corridors and coral‑lined passages between them. Because the ergs are similar in size and beauty and lie close together, the site is known among guides as a navigational puzzle, rewarding divers who take their time to explore the structure carefully. Its compact layout, shallow depth, and sheltered position make it one of the best “small‑scale” reef architecture dives in the Soma Bay area
Tobia Al Saghaira sits inside the protected Soma Bay inner reef, so sea and surface conditions are usually calm to moderate, with much more protection than the outer reefs. Moorings do not offer complete shelter from waves, but most days entry and exit are straightforward, and the site is accessible in weather that might rule out more exposed locations. Currents can pick up, especially along the eastern side of the reef system, yet they are generally manageable and rarely extreme, which helps keep the site suitable for less experienced divers. Visibility is commonly 15–25 m, and the white sand plus shallow depth create very bright, light‑filled dives.
The text on your page already reflects the structure very well, so you can keep it with only minor polishing. A typical plan focuses on the two southern erg chains, which most guides consider the highlights:Eastern chain: Features a narrow canyon around 11 m and a very photogenic tunnel/arch at about 9 m, decorated with delicate white soft corals. Divers are usually briefed to look inside the tunnel rather than swim through it to avoid fin and bubble damage to the corals.Western chain: Consists of three rubble‑filled channels that can be crossed at shallow depths of about 4–6 m, leading to four mushroom‑shaped coral towers at the northern end of this chain. Most dives are multilevel circuits: you start around 10–12 m near one of the erg chains, work your way through the sandy corridors and around the pillars, then gradually come shallower, using the 4–8 m zones for extended exploration and your safety stop. Because the site is compact, navigation practice, slow macro hunting, and photography all work very well here.
Tobia Al Saghaira is especially known for dense schools of glassfish that blanket the ergs, creating a shimmering halo effect as they move around the coral towers. The white sand channels host blue‑spotted rays, crocodilefish, and well‑camouflaged scorpionfish, which reward careful, slow observation. The shallow depth and bright, reflective sand produce beautiful light beams and colour contrast, making this one of the best Soma Bay sites for wide‑angle and ambient‑light photography despite its small size. Along the pinnacles, you also find typical Red Sea reef residents such as anthias, wrasses, butterflyfish, and pufferfish, plus moray eels hiding in crevices for macro‑oriented photographers.

Typical and practical max depth is 15 m around the erg chains and sand
Calm, protected conditions and shallow depth make it perfect for new divers and relaxed fun dives
