A Navigational Adventure for Every Skill Level
Located just 30 minutes east of Safaga, Tobia Al Saghaira is a masterpiece of underwater architecture. While its name translates to “Small Tobia,” the experience it offers is massive. The site features a unique formation where three chains of interconnected ergs (pinnacles) converge to create a striking inverted Y-shape on the sea floor.
Experience Level: Beginner to Intermediate.
Depth: 12 – 16 Meters (Ideal for long, sun-drenched bottom times).
Topography: A stunning combination of vertical coral pillars and a pristine white sand seabed.
Connectivity: To the north, this intricate system links directly with the larger Tobia Kebir.
Tobia Al Saghaira is famously known among guides as a “navigational puzzle.” Because the erg chains are so closely connected and similar in beauty, they can pose a challenge for the average diver. Navigating these winding coral corridors requires a keen eye or a professional guide to truly unlock the secrets hidden within the “Y” formation.

Perfect for long bottom times without decompression limits.
Easy entry and very light currents. Great for first Red Sea dives.
Sheltered bay area, consistently calm surface conditions.
Warmest in August. We recommend a 5mm suit for winter dives.
A comfortable, short trip from the marina to the site.
Exceptional clarity, perfect for spotting small macro life.
Conditions at the site are usually favorable, though the moorings offer limited protection from waves. Divers should be aware that currents can become quite strong, particularly along the eastern side of the reef.
The Glassfish Clouds: The ergs are often swarming with shimmering glassfish, creating a silver "halo" around the coral.Macro Treasures: The white sand between the pillars is home to blue-spotted rays, crocodile fish, and camouflaged scorpionfish. The Light Play: Because of the shallow depth and white sand, the sunlight reflects upward, making this one of the best sites in the Red Sea for underwater photography.
The two southernmost erg chains are considered the highlights of the site:The Eastern Chain: This section features a narrow canyon at 11 meters and a stunning tunnel at 9 meters. The tunnel is lined with delicate white soft corals; divers are encouraged to look inside but avoid entering to prevent damaging the coral with fins or air bubbles. The Western Chain: This area includes three rubble-filled channels that can be crossed at shallow depths of 4 to 6 meters. At the northern end of this chain, you will find four imposing mushroom-shaped coral towers.
